Grooming Report for 18 Jan 2013

 Beaver Mountain

We groomed the entire Beaver Mountain trail on Thursday, January 17th.  Snow is 36" deep and 3-5” of fresh powder on top making for some excellent snowmobiling conditions.

City Creek Trailhead:  5" of snow on the level, 2-4" of packed snow on the trail for the first couple of miles up.  UDOT is not plowing the road to the trailhead, so it's a slick drive the last three miles.  The snow has “settled” a bit

 more from last week.

Puffer Lake Trailhead:  We graded the road so it is clear, snow is very deep.  We also knocked down the snow bank once again at the end of the parking lot leaving an nice ramp to access the trail.

Kent's Lake Trailhead:  Road is clear.  Snow is packed very tight for the first few miles due to heavy use.  We took most of the bumps out and now it's good to go.  All three trails are in excellent shape and should make for a great day snowmobiling.

Monroe Mountain

We groomed Monroe Mountain trail on Tuesday, January 15th from Koosharem Trailhead to Big Lake and back to the Koosharem Trailhead.  Snow on top is 20-30" deep and powdery.  Use caution on Monroe Mountain where logging operations took place over the fall.  There are numerous trees and limbs buried in the trail, and snow depths are only 12-15".  The trail down the west side into Monrovian Park is bare in some spots, exposed rocks, or packed very tightly.  Ride with caution.   We will groom the entire Monroe Mountain Trail next week.

We also did a courtesy run down Hunters Flat and groomed to the cattle guard 2 miles from the top.  We will continue to groom Hunter Flat when both fuel and time allow – this is not something we can do every week but will when we can.

Koosharem Trailhead:  2" of snow on the level, 1-2" of packed snow on the trail.

Monrovian Park Trailhead:  5" of snow on the level, 2-4" of packed snow on the trail.

Fishlake to Gooseberry

We groomed this trail on Monday, January 14th.  Snow is not very deep across Seven Mile Pass, only about 12" and bare in spots just pass the opening of the canyon.  Use caution when riding off trail.  There is little to no snow on the road from Bowery Haven to Johnson's Reservoir.

Fishlake Trailhead:  Very little snow for six miles on the highway, with just a few drifts.  We cannot take a snow cat on this section of the trail.

Gooseberry Trailhead:  8" of snow on the level, 4-6" of packed snow on the trail.

Sand Ledges

We evaluated this trail on Monday, January 14th and plan on grooming Sand Ledges next week – there is quite a bit of new snow on top.

Highway 24 (Sand Ledges) Trailhead:  2-3" of snow on the level 1" of packed snow on the trail, some bare spots.

This Jan 2013 grooming report helped me out so much. I was stuck during my uk assignments review and I didn't know what to do. That is when I found out about this report and it was the best thing for me. I just loved all of it.
