Grooming Report for February 15, 2017

February 15, 2017
Here is this week’s grooming schedule: We groomed Lava Beds and Cedar Breaks on Tuesday the 14th. We only did Cedar Breaks as far as Brian Head, because it looked like the groomers over there had done the trail recently – thanks Brian Head! We plan to groom Deer Hollow Ski area on the morning of Thursday the 16th and Navajo Lake and Duck Creek Ridge on the evening of Thursday the 16th. (Please note: the Deer Hollow Ski area is groomed using grant funds obtained by the Cedar Mountain Nordic Ski Club.) We’ll get Cedar Breaks/High Mountain again on Friday the 17 in preparation for the Poker Run scheduled for Saturday.  They are forecasting snow for the weekend, but we can hope it is good for the Poker Run. Be careful and have fun on the mountain. For information or questions, contact us at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park – 435-648-2800 or coralpink@utah.gov

Grooming Report for February 10, 2017

February 10, 2017
We had a short week of grooming this week due to our training sessions that called us away. But we were able to groom Navajo Lake and Deer Hollow on Thursday the 9th. (Please note: the Deer Hollow Ski area is groomed using grant funds obtained by the Cedar Mountain Nordic Ski Club.) We had planned on grooming Cedar Breaks/High Mountain on Friday night, but a storm is coming through then and it wouldn’t be of much use to groom in the middle of a blizzard. So we’ll wait and do Cedar Breaks/High Mountain on Sunday the 12th or Monday the 13th. We plan to do Lava Beds on Tuesday the 14th and Navajo Lake/Duck Creek Ridge on Wednesday the 15th. For information or questions, contact us at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park – 435-648-2800 or coralpink@utah.gov

Grooming Report for February 5, 2017

February 5, 2017
Grooming runs went as planned last week and all of the trails were finally groomed after the big storm and mechanical issues. For this coming week, we have 3 days of meetings on Mon – Wed, so we won’t be grooming again until Thursday. We’ll probably do Navajo Lake/Duck Creek Ridge on Thursday the 9th and Cedar Breaks/High Mountain on Friday the 10th. For information or questions, contact us at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park – 435-648-2800 or coralpink@utah.gov

Grooming Reports for January 31, 2017

January 31, 2017
Good news! We got our hydraulic leak fixed on Monday the 30th and were able to groom through Cedar Breaks as far as Highway 143. On Tuesday the 31st, we plan to groom Navajo Lake/Duck Creek Ridge and Lava Beds/Deer Hollow on either Wednesday the 1st or Thursday the 2nd. We’ll go up again on Friday the 3rd and do Cedar Breaks/High Mountain. For information or questions, contact us at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park – 435-648-2800 or coralpink@utah.gov

Grooming Report for January 28, 2017

January 28, 2017
Well, we were able to get up on the mountain on Thursday the 26th and groom Deer Hollow and Lava Beds, but then there was some bad news. We blew a hydraulic hose on the snowcat and were unable to find the parts needed on Friday. So until we can get a new hose made/shipped/imported from Italy, we won’t be able to groom any trails. Sorry about that. We’ll get it done as soon as we can, and in the meantime, we'll keep you updated on the repair efforts and new schedule when we know something. For information or questions, contact us at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park – 435-648-2800 or coralpink@utah.gov

Grooming Report for January 26, 2017

January 26, 2017
With all the snow on Cedar Mountain from the recent storms, Highway 14 was closed until Wednesday afternoon, and we weren’t able to get up to the cat and groom. So here is the new plan: Thursday the 26th – Lava Beds/Deer Hollow (Please note: the Deer Hollow Ski area is groomed using grant funds obtained by the Cedar Mountain Nordic Ski Club.), Friday the 27th – Cedar Breaks/High Mountain, and Saturday the 28th – Navajo Lake/Duck Creek Ridge. Wish us luck. For information or questions, contact us at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park – 435-648-2800 or coralpink@utah.gov

Grooming Report for January 27, 2017

January 23, 2017
This past few days has brought a lot of new snow to our area and has probably wiped out all our trails. We plan to get up to groom them as quickly as we can. State Road 14 was closed for snow clearing on Monday the 23rd. Our plans for this week are as follows: Tuesday the 24th – Navajo Lake/Duck Creek Ridge. Wednesday the 25th – Cedar Breaks/High Mountain. Thursday the 26th Lava Beds/Deer Hollow Ski Area (Please note: the Deer Hollow Ski area is groomed using  grant funds obtained by the Cedar Mountain Nordic Ski Club.)   Friday the 27th – Cedar Breaks/High Mountain again for the weekend. As always, the plans may be subject to change for weather and conditions, but we’ll keep you posted. For information or questions, contact us at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park – 435-648-2800 or coralpink@utah.gov

Grooming Report for January 18, 2017

January 18, 2017
So far this week, things have gone as planned. We groomed Cedar Breaks/High Mountain on Monday the 16th and Navajo Lake/Duck Creek Ridge on Tuesday the 17th and will do Lava Beds tonight (Wednesday the 18th). But a big storm is coming in and we may or may not be able to get out until it passes. Weather permitting, we’ll do Deer Hollow on Friday morning and Cedar Breaks/High Mountain on Friday evening the 20th. But that is subject to conditions. Conditions on the mountain right now are great with 34” of snow at the Sage Valley turnoff. Be careful and enjoy the winter on Cedar Mountain. For information or questions, contact us at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park – 435-648-2800 or coralpink@utah.gov

Grooming Report for January 13, 2017

January 13, 2017
We had a big storm this week and got more than a foot of new snow up on Cedar Mountain. It pretty well covered up all the trails, so we’ll get back over them when we can. We groomed the Deer Hollow Ski Area on Thursday the 12th during the storm (Please note: the Deer Hollow Ski area is groomed using non-motorized grant funds obtained by the Cedar Mountain Nordic Ski Club.), and we plan to do Cedar Breaks/High Mountain on Friday the 13th. Next weeks schedule should go as follows:
Monday the 16th – Cedar Breaks/High Mountain
Tuesday the 17th – Navajo Lake/Duck Creek Ridge
Wednesday the 18th – Lava Beds
Thursday the 19th – Deer Hollow
Friday the 20th – Cedar Breaks/High Mountain.
Please note that weather or other circumstances can change the schedule, but we’ll keep you posted with any changes. Be careful up there and enjoy the new snow! For information or questions, contact us at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park – 435-648-2800 or coralpink@utah.gov

Grooming Report for January 7, 2017

January 7, 2017
Hopefully, we got our previous electrical problems sorted out in the snow cat and will be able to groom this week with no issues. Our plans are to groom Cedar Breaks/High Mountain on Saturday the 7th, Navajo Lake/Duck Creek Ridge on Sunday the 8th, and Lava Beds/Deer Hollow on either Wednesday the 11th or Thursday the 12th.  (Please note: the Deer Hollow Ski area is groomed using federal grant funds obtained by the Cedar Mountain Nordic Ski Club.)   We have some training scheduled for Thursday, and if time allows, we’ll go out after the training. It also sounds like a storm is coming in on Wednesday, so Thursday is more probable. Have a fun and safe week and enjoy the mountain. For information or questions, contact us at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park – 435-648-2800 or coralpink@utah.gov
