Final Grooming Report - April 1, 2012

April 1, 2012
This is the final grooming report for Cedar Mountain for the 2011-2012 snowmobile season. We won’t be doing any more grooming on Cedar Mountain this year. It’s been a difficult year for grooming and we haven’t been able to get out as much as we would have liked. Hopefully, next year will work out better. For any questions please contact Michael Franklin, Dean Anderson, or Brian Kurta at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park at 435-648-2800.

Grooming report March 3, 2012

March 3, 2012
We were able to groom some of the trails on Cedar Mountain on Friday March 2. We went out from Duck Creek on the Duck Creek Ridge trail, crossed Highway 14 at Navajo Lake and groomed to Brian Head. We tried to do the High Mountain trail, but were unable to climb the hill at the ski run and had to turn back there. It was still a 17 hour run for us. We met Roger from Loose Wheels out in his ‘cat. He was kind enough to groom the Lava Beds trail out from Duck Creek as well as some other sections. We appreciate his help with the grooming. Snow levels are still low but adequate. There was high wind on Friday night, especially up on top, so watch for drifted snow. For any questions please contact Michael Franklin, Dean Anderson, or Brian Kurta at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park at 435-648-2800.

Grooming Report 2-17-12

This is the snow grooming report for Cedar Mountain on February 17, 2012. This past week storm brought enough snow for us to finally begin grooming. On Thursday night we were able to groom Duck Creek Village, Navajo Lake, and Cedar Breaks. Snow levels are still low and snowmobilers should use caution while out on the trial. For any other questions please contact Michael Franklin, Dean Anderson, or Brian Kurta at Coral Pink Sand Dunes Sate Park at 435-648-2800.

Grooming Report 2-14-12

February 14, 2012
With the recent storms, there is a chance we’ll be able to start grooming soon. Monday night’s storm put down some good snow and more is expected Tuesday and Wednesday. We’ll check it out after the storms, and if there is enough base to safely run the groomer, we’ll get started. If you have questions, please contact Michael Franklin, Dean Anderson or Brian Kurta at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park at 435-648-2800.

Grooming Report for Feb. 5, 2012

February 5, 2012
Sorry to say that there still isn’t enough snow for us to start grooming the trails on Cedar Mountain. There just isn’t enough snow on the ground to operate the groomer safely. There is probably enough on top of the mountain to groom, but we have to be able to get the groomer up that high, and it just isn’t possible yet. We’ll keep watching and hoping for more snow soon. If you have questions, please contact Michael Franklin, Dean Anderson or Brian Kurta at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park at 435-648-2800.

Grooming Report for January 29, 2012

January 29, 2012
Well, we still have nothing to report in the way of grooming trails on Cedar Mountain. The snow just hasn’t come and we still don’t have enough to start grooming. We need about 2 feet of snow to operate the groomer safely, and we just don’t have it at the lower elevations where we have the groomer this year. Keep watching and hoping for snow and we’ll do the same. If you have questions, please contact Michael Franklin, Dean Anderson or Brian Kurta at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park at 435-648-2800.

Cedar Mountain Grooming Report 1-8-2012

January 8, 2012
Unfortunately, there is still not enough snow on Cedar Mountain for us to start grooming operations. We need about 2 feet of snow on the ground to operate the groomer safely, and it just hasn’t come yet. We’re watching it closely, and hoping for snow soon. If you have questions, please contact Michael Franklin, Dean Anderson or Brian Kurta at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park at 435-648-2800

Grooming Report for 12/3/2011

Welcome to the 2011-2012 snowmobile season on Cedar Mountain. We haven’t started grooming yet, and we won’t begin until we get enough snow to operate the groomer safely. We’ll keep you updated here with conditions and how we are progressing. With the rockslide closing the west end of Highway 14 for the winter, UDOT has determined to not plow the road up to the Midway road shed where we usually keep our groomer. So this year we will keep our groomer in Duck Creek and work out of there. We’re not completely sure how it is all going to work with this new system, but we’ll figure it out as we go along. Last years Christmas storm put a lot of trees on the ground, so please be aware of stumps and downed trees as you ride and be careful. If you have questions, please contact Michael Franklin, Dean Anderson or Brian Kurta at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park at 435-648-2800.
