Grooming Report for January 18, 2017

January 18, 2017
So far this week, things have gone as planned. We groomed Cedar Breaks/High Mountain on Monday the 16th and Navajo Lake/Duck Creek Ridge on Tuesday the 17th and will do Lava Beds tonight (Wednesday the 18th). But a big storm is coming in and we may or may not be able to get out until it passes. Weather permitting, we’ll do Deer Hollow on Friday morning and Cedar Breaks/High Mountain on Friday evening the 20th. But that is subject to conditions. Conditions on the mountain right now are great with 34” of snow at the Sage Valley turnoff. Be careful and enjoy the winter on Cedar Mountain. For information or questions, contact us at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park – 435-648-2800 or coralpink@utah.gov

Grooming Report for January 13, 2017

January 13, 2017
We had a big storm this week and got more than a foot of new snow up on Cedar Mountain. It pretty well covered up all the trails, so we’ll get back over them when we can. We groomed the Deer Hollow Ski Area on Thursday the 12th during the storm (Please note: the Deer Hollow Ski area is groomed using non-motorized grant funds obtained by the Cedar Mountain Nordic Ski Club.), and we plan to do Cedar Breaks/High Mountain on Friday the 13th. Next weeks schedule should go as follows:
Monday the 16th – Cedar Breaks/High Mountain
Tuesday the 17th – Navajo Lake/Duck Creek Ridge
Wednesday the 18th – Lava Beds
Thursday the 19th – Deer Hollow
Friday the 20th – Cedar Breaks/High Mountain.
Please note that weather or other circumstances can change the schedule, but we’ll keep you posted with any changes. Be careful up there and enjoy the new snow! For information or questions, contact us at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park – 435-648-2800 or coralpink@utah.gov

Grooming Report for January 7, 2017

January 7, 2017
Hopefully, we got our previous electrical problems sorted out in the snow cat and will be able to groom this week with no issues. Our plans are to groom Cedar Breaks/High Mountain on Saturday the 7th, Navajo Lake/Duck Creek Ridge on Sunday the 8th, and Lava Beds/Deer Hollow on either Wednesday the 11th or Thursday the 12th.  (Please note: the Deer Hollow Ski area is groomed using federal grant funds obtained by the Cedar Mountain Nordic Ski Club.)   We have some training scheduled for Thursday, and if time allows, we’ll go out after the training. It also sounds like a storm is coming in on Wednesday, so Thursday is more probable. Have a fun and safe week and enjoy the mountain. For information or questions, contact us at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park – 435-648-2800 or coralpink@utah.gov

Grooming Report for January 4,2017

January 4, 2017
This week we groomed the Cedar Breaks/High Mountain trail on Monday the 2nd and on Tuesday the 3rd did the Lava Beds trail and were able to groom the Duck Creek Ridge trail, but only as far as the Forest Service Ranger Station near Duck Creek. We had some electrical issues with the snow cat and thought it best to turn around at that point. There were plans to do Navajo Lake and the Deer Hollow Ski area on Thursday, but with the snowcat problems and a shortage of hours this week, we’ll have to postpone them until later. We’ll post a date when we know more.

Grooming Report for January 1, 2017

January 1, 2017
We were able to groom the Navajo Lake trail on Wednesday the 28th, but only as far as the end of the lake. The going was so slow that we were running out of fuel by that point and had to return. We’ll try and get to the end of the trail next time. Our plans for this week are as follows: Monday the 2nd will be Cedar Breaks/High Mountain. Tuesday the 3rd will be Lava Beds and Duck Creek Ridge trails. Thursday the 5th will be Navajo Lake and Deer Hollow Ski Area. (Please note: the Deer Hollow Ski area is groomed using federal grant funds obtained by the Cedar Mountain Nordic Ski Club.) There is some snow in the forecast for this week, so a major storm could change our plans, but we can hope for the best. Please remember to be safe on the mountain and have a great New Year!

Grooming Report for 12/27/16

December 27, 2016
We got nearly 2 feet of new snow from the Christmas weekend storm, and so have started our grooming program on Cedar Mountain. We groomed the Cedar Breaks/High Mountain trail on Tuesday the 27th and plan to groom Navajo Lake as well as the Deer Hollow Ski area on Wednesday the 28th. We’ll get to the others as soon as time and circumstances allow.

First Grooming Report for 2016-2017

Nothing much to report yet for Cedar Mountain.  Still waiting for enough snow on the ground to groom safely.  The forecast looks like we may get some over the Christmas weekend, so we'll see what we get and go from there.  Be careful and have a good holiday!

Final Grooming Report for 2015-2016

This will be our final grooming report for the 2015-2016 snowmobile season. With no new snow on Cedar Mountain and the deteriorating snow conditions, we have decided to terminate trail grooming for the year. It’s been a better year for snow than the last couple of years. Have a good summer and we’ll hope for another good snow year next fall. For information or questions, contact Michael Franklin or Dean Anderson at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park – 435-648-2800 or coralpink@utah.gov.

Grooming Report for 2-25-16

With the warm weather and deteriorating snow conditions on Cedar Mountain, this week we will only groom the Cedar Breaks/High Mountain trail on Friday the 26th. There isn’t any snow in the forecast that we can see, so we may be approaching the end of the grooming season this year. It’s been a better year for snow than the last couple of years. For information or questions, contact Michael Franklin or Dean Anderson at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park – 435-648-2800 or coralpink@utah.gov.

Grooming Report for 2/18/16

We were able to groom Deer Valley/Lava Beds on Wednesday the 17th, but with the high winds and bad weather today, we have chosen not to groom Cedar Breaks or Navajo Lake this week. We’ll try and catch them back up again next week. For information or questions, contact Michael Franklin or Dean Anderson at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park – 435-648-2800 or coralpink@utah.gov.
