(Non-) Grooming Report for 1/11/2014

There is still not enough snow on Cedar Mountain for us to do any grooming.  Much of what is up there is compacted and too thin to run the snowcat and groomer safely.  The forecasts are not very encouraging, but we can always hope.  If you have any questions, contact Dean Anderson or Michael Franklin at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park at 435-648-2800.

Grooming Report for 1/2/14

We haven’t been able to groom lately due to the lack of snow.  There are bare patches of asphalt on the road through Cedar Breaks and not enough snow depth to safely groom off the pavement at all.  We are still hoping for more snow, but the forecast isn’t encouraging.  We’ll keep an eye on it and post more information as it becomes available.  If you have any questions, contact Dean Anderson or Michael Franklin at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park at 435-648-2800.

Grooming Report for 12/20/13

We were able to go up and groom through Cedar Breaks on Thursday the 19th.  The snow is very thin, with bare pavement showing in some places.  There was light powder falling through the evening, but not much was expected.  We’ll try and get up there again sometime late next week – after Christmas.  Hopefully, the new year will bring us more snow and better conditions. If you have any questions, contact Dean Anderson or Michael Franklin at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park at 435-648-2800.

Grooming Report for 12/17/13

We are going to try another grooming run through Cedar Breaks this week – probably Thursday the 19th.  Still no new snow and the snow cover is still pretty thin, so conditions are marginal for grooming.  We’ll hope for a white Christmas and better conditions soon. If you have any questions, contact Dean Anderson or Michael Franklin at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park at 435-648-2800.

Grooming Report for 12/12/2013

We tried another grooming run through Cedar Breaks on Wednesday the 11th.  We were able to get all the way through Brian Head and out to the High Mountain overlook, but the snow was so thin it was dangerous to operate the snowcat – too many rocks and stumps.  We’re going to have to wait for more snow before we try it again.  We will continue to groom through Cedar Breaks as far as the crossing of Hwy 143 as long as conditions permit, but the other trails will have to wait for more snow.  Our measuring stick at the Sage Valley turnoff is only showing about 18 inches. If you have any questions, contact Dean Anderson or Michael Franklin at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park at 435-648-2800.

Grooming Report 12/7/2013

We did our first grooming run of the season on Friday the 6th.  The snow is still a bit thin, so we groomed the trail from Midway through Cedar Breaks to the north boundary of the park (where the trial crosses Hwy 143).  We still need more snow to cross Sage Valley, but the forecast has a pretty good storm coming in on Saturday the 7th, so we'll hope for the best.  If you have any questions, contact Michael Franklin or Dean Anderson at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park at 435-648-2800.

Welcome to the new season!

Welcome to the new snowmobile season of 2013-2014!  We are just getting geared up for the season at this point.  There isn't enough snow on Cedar Mountain yet to operate the snowcat safely, but we are watching closely and will get started grooming when conditions permit.  Looking forward to a great winter on the mountain.

Final grooming report for Cedar Mountain - 3/21/2013

Thursday, March 21, 2013
This will be the last grooming report for the 2012-2013 snowmobile season for Cedar Mountain. We plan to do one more grooming run on Friday the 22nd, and it will be primarily for the trail ride scheduled for Saturday the 23rd. We will run from Midway to the Brian Head water tank and back, then out the Lava Beds trail as far as the Red Desert turnoff, and back to Midway. It’s been a pretty good year for sledding and we appreciate your participation and enthusiasm in the program. See you next year! If you have any questions, call Michael Franklin or Dean Anderson at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park at 435-648-2800.

Grooming Report for 3/14/2013

Thursday, March 14, 2013
Unfortunately, we were unable to get out and groom the Navajo Lake/Duck Creek Ridge trails on Wednesday the 13th, and it doesn’t look like we’ll have the hours available to get out there this week. We do plan to groom Brian Head/High Mountain again on Friday (the 15th)  night, however. Things are picking up considerably at the park now, and the grooming season will be coming to an end next week. There is a trail ride scheduled from Brian Head to Duck Creek and back on the 23rd, and we plan to groom those trails on Thursday the 21st and Friday the 22nd to have them ready for the trail ride. But that will be the last of the grooming runs for the season. If you have any questions, call Michael Franklin or Dean Anderson at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park at 435-648-2800.

Grooming Report for 3/12/2013

Tuesday, March 12, 2013
We were able to get up and groom the Brian Head/High Mountain trail on Monday the 11th. The weekend storm put down about 16 inches of new snow, so it pretty much covered up the trails. We plan to groom the Navajo Lake/Duck Creek Ridge trails on Wednesday the 13th and probably Brian Head/High Mountain again on Friday the 15th if we have the manpower available. If you have any questions, call Michael Franklin or Dean Anderson at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park at 435-648-2800.
