Grooming Report 12/7/2013

We did our first grooming run of the season on Friday the 6th.  The snow is still a bit thin, so we groomed the trail from Midway through Cedar Breaks to the north boundary of the park (where the trial crosses Hwy 143).  We still need more snow to cross Sage Valley, but the forecast has a pretty good storm coming in on Saturday the 7th, so we'll hope for the best.  If you have any questions, contact Michael Franklin or Dean Anderson at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park at 435-648-2800.

Welcome to the new season!

Welcome to the new snowmobile season of 2013-2014!  We are just getting geared up for the season at this point.  There isn't enough snow on Cedar Mountain yet to operate the snowcat safely, but we are watching closely and will get started grooming when conditions permit.  Looking forward to a great winter on the mountain.

Final grooming report for Cedar Mountain - 3/21/2013

Thursday, March 21, 2013
This will be the last grooming report for the 2012-2013 snowmobile season for Cedar Mountain. We plan to do one more grooming run on Friday the 22nd, and it will be primarily for the trail ride scheduled for Saturday the 23rd. We will run from Midway to the Brian Head water tank and back, then out the Lava Beds trail as far as the Red Desert turnoff, and back to Midway. It’s been a pretty good year for sledding and we appreciate your participation and enthusiasm in the program. See you next year! If you have any questions, call Michael Franklin or Dean Anderson at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park at 435-648-2800.

Grooming Report for 3/14/2013

Thursday, March 14, 2013
Unfortunately, we were unable to get out and groom the Navajo Lake/Duck Creek Ridge trails on Wednesday the 13th, and it doesn’t look like we’ll have the hours available to get out there this week. We do plan to groom Brian Head/High Mountain again on Friday (the 15th)  night, however. Things are picking up considerably at the park now, and the grooming season will be coming to an end next week. There is a trail ride scheduled from Brian Head to Duck Creek and back on the 23rd, and we plan to groom those trails on Thursday the 21st and Friday the 22nd to have them ready for the trail ride. But that will be the last of the grooming runs for the season. If you have any questions, call Michael Franklin or Dean Anderson at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park at 435-648-2800.

Grooming Report for 3/12/2013

Tuesday, March 12, 2013
We were able to get up and groom the Brian Head/High Mountain trail on Monday the 11th. The weekend storm put down about 16 inches of new snow, so it pretty much covered up the trails. We plan to groom the Navajo Lake/Duck Creek Ridge trails on Wednesday the 13th and probably Brian Head/High Mountain again on Friday the 15th if we have the manpower available. If you have any questions, call Michael Franklin or Dean Anderson at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park at 435-648-2800.

Grooming Report for 3/7/2013

Thursday, March 07, 2013
We were able to groom Lava Beds on Wednesday the 6th, and went on over to Navajo Lake and Duck Creek Ridge as well. Both trails were in good shape, so we only groomed over to the Forest Service Ranger Station and up to the Duck Creek Ridge Road. We’ll see how things are after the weekend storm before doing the Brian Head/High Mountain trail.

Sadly, we need to start looking at closing down the grooming operation for the year pretty soon. This is probably the last time we’ll groom Lava Beds this year, as the snow is melting down and many of the south slopes at the lower elevations are down to the dirt. We also saw quite a few rocks and stumps coming out of the snow. We’ll probably do Brian Head/High Mountain a couple more times this year, but by the end of March, we’ll probably be done. Things are beginning to pick up at Coral Pink Sand Dunes and more of our time will be required there. If you have any questions, call Michael Franklin or Dean Anderson at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park at 435-648-2800.

Grooming Report for 3/6/2013

Wednesday, March 06, 2013
Grooming plans this week are a bit up in the air, but we’ll see how it goes. We plan to do Lava Beds on Wednesday the 6th and Navajo Lake/Duck Creek Ridge on Thursday the 7th. There is a storm in the forecast for Friday night, so Brian Head/ High Mountain might have to wait until Saturday or Sunday night after the storm passes. We are short on manpower this week and next due to training sessions in Salt Lake, but we’ll do the best we can. If you have any questions, call Michael Franklin or Dean Anderson at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park at 435-648-2800.

Grooming Report for 3/2/2013

Saturday, March 02, 2013
We were able to groom Brian Head/High Mountain on Monday the 25th and Navajo Lake/Duck Creek Ridge on Tuesday the 26th. We weren’t able to get out again to do Lava Beds. We’ll plan to get up there and do Lava Beds on Wednesday the 6th, and Navajo Lake/Duck Creek Ridge on Thursday the 7th. And then we’ll try and do Brian Head/High Mountain on Friday the 8th. If you have any questions, call Michael Franklin or Dean Anderson at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park at 435-648-2800.

Grooming Report for 2-25-2013

Monday, February 25, 2013
With the storm and wind over the weekend, it pretty much wiped out most of our trails, so we’re going to try and get back up and fix them as soon as we can. The plan is to groom Brian Head/High Mountain on Monday the 25th, and go out Sage Valley and do Navajo Lake and Duck Creek Ridge on Tuesday the 26th.    Lava Beds on Wednesday the 27th, if we still have the hours available.   If you have any questions, call Michael Franklin or Dean Anderson at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park at 435-648-2800.

Grooming Report for 2-21-2013

Thursday, February 21, 2013
The storm on Wednesday the 20th put down a foot or more of new snow on Cedar Mountain, so we’re going to try and get it grromed as soon as we can. We plan to go up tonight (Thursday the 21st) and groom Navajo Lake and Duck Creek Ridge trails. On Friday the 22nd, we plan to groom Brian Head/High Mountain. If we can squeeze it in on one of those runs, we’ll do Lava Beds as well. If not, we’ll try and do it either Saturday night or Sunday. If you have any questions, call Michael Franklin or Dean Anderson at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park at 435-648-2800.
