As of March 19, we had received about five inches on top and are hoping the weather gives us more. There is patchy pavement along the bottom of Noblets Trailhead, use caution.  On top there is about three to four feet of snow with minimal amounts at the trailheads. The trails are in good shape. This week we will be running the trails and hoping to continue as long as snow conditions allow.  Tuesday Soapstone to the Noblets up mill hollow to Duchesne ridge was groomed. The cold springs loop down to the Hanna trailhead and back to Soapstone is scheduled to be groomed on Thursday. The mirror Lake Highway up to Mirror Lake may not be groomed this week due to scheduling.  Friday soapstone up mill hollow to the Lake Creek trail head and down to then Noblets trail head run is scheduled to be groomed Friday and Saturday. We are hoping to groom until the end of the month.  Watch out for danger while riding. The Avalanche danger is still out there. Make sure you are wearing a beacon. Ride safe and enjoy the snow.

Grooming report 3/4/12

A few small storms this weekend put down about 6-8 inches of new snow and riding conditions are pretty good with about 5 feet of total snow. We have been on schedule for grooming and the trails are in great condition. We had several snowmobile accidents recently and most were due to operator error. Please be carefule especially in low light conditions when hazards are hard to see. Several storms are scheduled for this weekend so please be safe.

Grooming Report for 2/12/13

Grooming continues full speed with no problems. We changed up our schedule a little so we can put the mogul master on tomorrow and hit the Mill Hollow area on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. The trail is in good shape but the mogul master will get it in awesome shape. We groomed Mirror Lake on Monday and today we groomed the Soapstone, Cold Springs, and Wolf Creek areas. There is some pretty decent new snow and conditions are getting better especially in the trees. As always please check the avalanche forecast before heading out. Remember if you are riding a trail with limited visibilty please slow down. Alot of other users are on the trail including skiers, dog sledders, and our snowcat. Whenever you are passing other users, please slow down. I had several complaints last week about sledders riding past skiers at a high rate of speed. Please slow down!

Park Manager

Finally some new snow! We got about 8-12 inches of snow over the last several days and riding conditions have improved greatly. With the new snow comes a considerable avalanche danger. Please check the conditions before you go out at http://utahavalanchecenter.org/. Remember avalanches can happen where you least expect it and small slopes with terrain traps such as gullies and creek bottoms can be especially dangerous as was evident with the tragic accident last week. Please make sure to carry the proper gear and let someone know where you are going. Go out prepared to spend the night and then if you unexpectedly have to you will be prepared. We are on schedule and you will find the trails in great shape.

Grooming Update – January 26th, 2013

As of January 26th, still not much change in conditions from last report. We received a miniscule amount of snow on Thursday. There is just over three feet of snow in the Trial Lake area so we are still not seeing huge amounts.  Even less at the trail heads with about one to two feet. Snow is expected Sunday. The trails are in decent shape.  We did our grooming runs on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. The avalanche warning for the Uinta’s area has not changed and is still a low to moderate warning—beacons still needed.
You can find a copy of our grooming schedule on this website at http://www.snowut.com which you can print.  Remember that most of our runs are done at night (Thursday run up Hwy 150 to Mirror Lake is done during the day); the Sno-cat, however, may be on the trail at any time so ride under control and anticipate seeing it.
