Well, we all knew it had to happen sooner or later.  I'm sorry to report that while doing the Coop/Strawberry River run today the snowcat hit a rock and blew a control box that holds hydrolic fluid.  We were unable to get the snowcat off the mountain last night and will be working with the crew from SLC to get it down and repaired today.  Hopefully the fix is an easy one and not something we have to order parts for.

At any rate, the Coop trail was done up to the Lake Creek Summit, then made it a mile above the corrals on Strawberry River before it broke down.  Be careful on that trail.  It's off the side of the trail right before a turn so make sure you go slow.

Snow conditions aren't ideal for riding this week anyway.  The heat has made it kind of crusty and hard.  Hopefully the storm this weekend will help that out.

I will give updates on the snow cat as they come available.

Hey all.  Great news.  We got about 1-2 feet of fresh snow over the last couple days.  Its a brand new wonderland up there.  There's no excuse not to have a great time sledding this weekend.  Coop and Strawberry River was groomed today.  It was a white out up at tower so I couldn't find my way to the Lake Creek Summit, but the rest is in perfect condition.

Tomorrow the south side of Hwy 40 will be groomed.  In case you forgot, that means Clyde Creek, Mud Creek, Indian Creek, Trail Hollow, and down to the Strawberry Marina.  If fuel permits we will also take care of the Willow Creek warming hut and a little bit of Sheep Creek.

Hope you enjoy your time on the mountian.  Please Please Please wear your beacons.  They save lives.

Hello Sledders

Today I groomed the Strawberry River and Coop trails.  They look marvolous.  The wind is high and visibility was low though.  I don't recommend heading out up there today.  Tomorrow the Clyde Creek/Mud Creek/Indian Creek/Trail Hollow run will be made.  Hopefully the storm doesn't create problems for them.

On a safety note:  Please Please Please wear your avalanche beacons when trecking into the back country.  We do NOT want any more fatalities.  Beacons save lives.  So Wear It.

Clyde Creek and Mud Creek Trails were groomed this morning.  That run went great.  Trail Hollow to Indian Creek was groomed this afternoon, and also looks great.  Sheep Creek was groomed down to the campground.  I do not think that will be the regular distance that we groom Sheep Creek, but I thought that it needed it so went ahead and groomed to the campground.

There was also an avalanche today near Mill Hollow.  Please be careful when you are riding in the back country.  Check the avalanche report at utahavalanchecenter.org and also wear a beacon.

Howdy Folks.  The Clyde Creek, Mud Creek, Indian Creek, and Trail Hollow run were groomed yesterday during the high wind storm.  Everything looks really good.

Tomorrow the Coop and Strawberry River run will be done.

Muahahahaha.  The riding was AWESOME today.  I finally got to get out on a sled and test my work.  Trails look pretty good but with heavy use.  Yesterday the Clyde Creek, Mud Creek, Indian Creek, and Trail Hollow run got done.  It looked perfect when I rode on it this morning going up.  Coming down...probably gonna need some grooming again. : )  Be careful though, it looks like a huge snow drift goes right across the trail after you pass the power lines on Trail Hollow.  It's a pretty good jump.  We will get that taken care of Tuesday.

Today the Cat was out on Coop and Strawberry River.  Everything went well.  I must warn you that the snow is very deep and very fluffy powder.  If I were you I wouldnt stop unless you are pointed down hill.  Just saying.  That would've saved me about 6 times today.  But who is counting.

Tomorrow the Cat will take care of Clyde Creek and Mud Creek then down to the marina and back.  On Monday we will be hitting Coop to Lake Creek then down Strawberry River.  Hope you all are having fun.

Hello Folks.  Thursday the grooming went well at Coop and Strawberry River.  Trails are looking good.  Yesterday Clyde Creek, Mud Creek, Indian Creek, and Trail Hollow were done.  This was a first run for a new groomer.  Don't judge.  : )  Today the Coop and Strawberry River trails were done again.

Tomorrow will be the short run.  Clyde Creek and Mud Creek only.  Then on Monday, we will head up Coop, to Lake Creek, then down Strawberry River.  All the trails are looking good.  Still not very much snow down low so it can't be groomed, but up top...lots of snow.  It's awesome.

Happy New Year.

Ok...We groomed Coop and Strawberry River yesturday, and today I groomed the entire south loop.  That means, Clyde Creek, Mud Creek, to the marina, then up Trail Hollow, Willow Creek Warming Hut, Indian Creek... I'm tired.  It was a great day for grooming and riding though.  Trails are looking great.  The snow up top is looking even better.  I thought you guys were going to save me an area or two so I could enjoy it.  Oh well, I still know some secret spots.

Tomorrow is Cat maintenance day so no grooming.  Thursday I will hit Coop and Strawberry River, and Friday we will groom the entire south loop again.

Be safe out there.

Greetings my fellow sledders.

What a great day on the slopes.  Yesterday I groomed Coop to Lake Creek Summit then down Strawberry River all the way to the trailhead, then over the cutoff and back down Coop.  It was a great run....difficult, but fun.  There is a ton of deep powder in the higher elevations.  Lots and Lots of play areas.  Down low...not so much.  Use caution.

Today I groomed Clyde Creek, Mud Creek, the path to the Strawberry Marina, then Indian Creek, about 3 miles of Sheep Creek and then back down Trail Hollow.  There is so much sugar powder up there that it was a real chore.  I was running way low on fuel so I was not able to get to the Willow Creek warming hut.  I'll do my best next time.  I have to admit that I was a little upset that I'm stuck in the groomer instead of a snowmobile.  Oh well.

Tomorrow I will be grooming Coop to Tower Mountain, then down Strawberry River.

For a complete grooming schedule check out the Post from Dec. 20th.

Be Safe and have fun.

On Sunday the 23rd, the snow cat went up Co-op Trail to Tower Mountain and back down Co-op.  There is a good amount of snow up on the higher elevations, but be careful down low as the snow pack is still low.  As we were grooming the trail we could see a few avalanches so be careful where you are riding and check the avalanche report before you go out. The snow cat will not be going out again until after Christmas, so everyone have a happy holiday, and be safe.
