Grooming Report 01/15/13

Hi. This is Jeff Steele your Assistant Trail Grooming Coordinator for the Uintah Basin snowmobiling complex.



As of 01/15/2013, Utah State Parks and Uintah County have come to an agreement for grooming operations on the complex. They are both in the process of signing the agreement. The snow cat is currently in salt lake and will be delivered upon final agreement signatures. Grooming operations should start soon.

The following snow conditions exist: (lets all hope that next storm really hits the mountains. We need it. On Sunday, 01/13/2013, there was approx. 30 inches at trout creek cabin.)

- Chepeta Lake - 8 + inches inches in higher elevations

- Paradise Lake - 8 + inches in higher elevations

- Dry Fork - 7 + inches in higher elevations

- Taylor Mountain - 7 + inches in higher elevations

- East Fork - 7 + inches in higher elevations

- East McKee - 6 + inches in higher elevations



All parking lots at trailheads have been plowed .



We encourage you to obtain an avalanche advisory before venturing out into the backcountry. Also be prepared with the appropriate gear and training. If you have snowmobile riders under the age of 16, they need to take the snowmobile safety course, which is required by law. The safety course can be taken at www.stateparks.utah.gov.

Grooming Report

  -  Dry Fork -  7 + inches in higher elevations

  -  Taylor Mountain - 7 + inches in higher elevations

  -  East Fork - 7 + inches in higher elevations

  -  East McKee - 6 + inches in higher elevations

 Hi this is Jeff Steele your Assistant State Praks Trail Grooming coordinator for the Uintah Basin snowmobile complex.

 

As of 12/15/2012, the following Forest Service roads have been closed to vehicular traffic :

 

  - Chepita Lake - 6" plus in higher elevations

  - Paradise - 6" plus in higher elevations 

  - Dry Fork - 6 " plus in higher elevations

  - Taylor Mountain - 6" plus in higher elevations

  - East Park - 8" plus in higher elevations

  - East McKee - 8 " plus in higher elevations

 

Grooming operations will begin when adequate snow levels exist to operate the Snow Cat.

 

We encourage you to obtain an avalanche advisory before venturing out into the backcountry.  Also be prepared with the appropriate gear and training.  If you have snowmobile riders under the age of 16, they need to take the snowmobile safety course, which is required by law.  The safety course can be taken at www.stateparks.utah.gov.

Grooming Report 03/09/2012

As of 03/09/12, grooming operations have been suspended due to warm temperatures and lack of snow at the trail heads.

 

We encourage you to obtain an avalanche advisory before venturing out into the backcountry.  Also be prepared with the appropriate gear and training.  If you have snowmobile riders under the age of 16, they need to take the snowmobile safety course, which is required by law.  The safety course can be taken at www.stateparks.utah.gov.

Grooming Report 03/02/2012

As of 03/02/2012 the following conditions exist:

 

  - Chepeta Lake - 6" to 58" in higher elevations

  - Paradise - 6" to 51" in higher elevations

  - Dry Fork - 12" to 40" in higher elevations

  - Taylor Mountain - 4" to 40" in higher elevations

  - East Park - 8" to 39" in higher elevations

  - East McKee - 14" to 36 " in higher elevations

 

The snow in the parking areas is being cleared and all trails are being groomed.  Riding conditions are good to excellent.  Don't miss your chance to get out and ride!!!

As of 02/24/2012 the following conditions exist:

 

  - Chepeta lake - 4" -  43" in higher elevations

  - Paradise Lake - 4" - 25" in higher elevations

  - Dry Fork - 7" - 28" in higher elevations

  - Taylor Mountain - Closed due to low snow fall

  - East Park - 7" - 28" in higher elevations

  - East McKee - 11" - 22" in higher elevations

This week all trails were groomed.  Riders may run into aways of severe drifting as high winds came through the area after trails were groomed.

  - Paradise Lake - 3" - 33" in higher elevations.

  - Dry Fork - 5" - 24" in higher elevations.

  - Taylor Mountain - Closed due to low snowfall.

  - East Park - 4" - 24" in higher elevations.

  - East McKee - 10" - 19" in higher elevations.

 

This week Dry Fork and East Park were the only trails groomed so favorable conditions should exist on these trails.

 

We encourage you to obtain an avalanche advisory before venturing into the backcountry.  Also be prepared with the appropriate gear and training.  If yoou have snowmobile riders under the age of 16, they need to take the snowmobile safety course, which is required by law.  The safety course can be taken at www.stateparks.utah.gov.

  - Chepta Lake - 3" to 32" in higher elevations.  Parking area has been pushed and sanded.

  - Paradise - 4" to 28" in higher elevations.  Parking area has been pushed and sanded.

  - Dry Fork - 6" to 30" in higher elevations.  Parking area has been pushed and sanded.

  - Taylor Mountain - Closed due to low snowfall.

  - East Park - 4" to 24" in higher elevations.  A temporary parking area exists along roadway.

  - East McKee - 3" to 18" in higher elevations.  Parking area has been pushed and sanded.

 

Currently all the trails have been groomed so favorable riding condtions exist.

Grooming Report

Currently, there is not enough snow to start grooming.  Grooming operations will begin when sufficient snow accumulates as to not damage snow cat.
