Last Monday we groomed CO-OP to Lake Creek and the top of Strawberry River.  We are getting very warm temperatures at Strawberry for this time of the year.  As of right now we are putting the grooming runs on hold and more than likely we will be done for the year.  Expect trails to be rough due to the warm weather.

We were able to groom Clyde Creek and Mudd Creek again on Sunday.  Cleaned up the top.  Starvation groomed CO-OP to Lake Creek on Monday.  Snow is good at higher elevations.  Starting to melt at lower elevations.  We will try and groom CO-OP and Strawberry River before the weekend and the assess Clyde Creek, Mudd Creek and Indian Creek.  The problem is getting the groomer from Highway 40 up and into the higher elevations.  Tracking the groomer without enough snow if very hard on the equipment.

Sorry for the late update, but I have good news!!  On Friday, we were able to groom Indian Creek and Trail Hollow loop during the day.  That night another operator groomed the Mud Creek and Clyde Creek loop.  On Thursday, we were able to go up CO-OP to Lake Creek summit, and down Strawberry. We were also able to make it across Lew's Cutoff, so that entire loop was groomed on Thursday.  If you are going to go on that trail today (Saturday) watch out for the cat because it may be on the trail grooming some more.  Keep praying for snow so that we can continue grooming all of the loops!!

Also the avalanche conditions may be high today due to all of the new snow.  Make sure that you check what those conditions are before you go out and always wear a beacon!

Have fun and stay safe!!!

Additional update:  The connecting trail between Clyde Creek and Mudd Creek at the top could not be groomed.  The groomer become stuck several times and would power out before being able to bust through some of the drifts and deeper snow.  We will tray again once the snow settles a little.

Groomed CO-OP to Lake Creek yesterday.  Received approximately 12 " of new snow in the last 24 hours at highway 40 elevation.  Will attempt to groom CO-OP to Lake Creek on Thursday.  Indian Creek, Sheep Creek, Trail Hollow, Mudd Creek and Clyde Creek on Friday.  We are still not into the routine found on the cover page for Strawberry Complex.  I will keep posting updates on where we have been and snow conditions.

Avalanche danger is very high.  Please go to the avalanche link on this web page for the current condition in the area you are planning to ride.  Travel in pairs, carry avalanche beacons and some form of communication with extra batteries.  A GPS unit could be invaluable if lost and you can make communication with someone.  Be prepared for spending the night outdoors in winter conditions.

www.stateparks.utah.gov  is another good link for current OHV laws and safety education classes that are required for younger riders.  Thanks, please be safe, prepared and have fun!

The snow cat got out today and went up CO-OP trail.  It made it all the way to the kiosk that is at the summit of Lake Creek.  It also went down Strawberry River to the corrals.  Then it turned around and finished by going down CO-OP.  There still is not enough snow at the lower elevations to go across Lew's Cutoff, so we cannot complete the full CO-OP-Strawberry loop.

Also due to this snow pack, we are unable to make it over to the Mud Creek-Clyde Creek Loop, or the Indian Creek-Trail Hollow Loop.  Once we get more snow we will reassess this area and hopefully be able to groom it shortly.

Some good news, however,  the groomer did report that there was approximately 4 inches of new snow at Tower Mountain.  So this past storm did bring us a little snow at the summits.

Please remember to check the avalanche conditions before you go out, and wear your beacons.

We were able to groom CO-OP Creek and most of Lake Creek on Thursday.  Friday we did get to Indian Creek, Sheep Creek, Trail Hollow, Mudd and Clyde Creek.  We will try and do CO-OP and the upper part of Strawberry River today.  Even with last week's snow there is very little at the lower elevation and not as much as you might think at higher elevation.  There is still some good snowmobiling but keep in mind the lack of sufficient snow depths can create vegetation and rock hazards in the play areas.  Will try and post some pictures after today of the Strawberry area.

The snow cat went out today.  It went up CO-OP to the kiosk at Lake Creek Summit and back.  As you probably know there still is not much snow at the trail heads, so we still will not be grooming anything on the South side of highway 40.  I also do not know when the next time we will be going down Strawberry River.  Please check back for more updates.

Make sure you are checking the avalanche conditions before going out.  Just because it is not snowing does not mean that the snow conditions are not changing.  The wind, and time plays a big factor too.

Last Friday we groomed CO-OP to just above the corrals in on the Strawberry River Trail.  Saturday we groomed CO-OP to the top of Lake Creek. Sunday we walked the groomer over to Mudd Creek and did that trail and Clyde Creek.  There is still a lack of snow at the lower elevations.  More snow higher up but not allot.  We have not been able to get over to Indian Creek and Trail Hollow because of the current snow conditions.

The snow cat was out grooming today.  It went up CO-OP trail to the Strawberry River turn.  It did not go past Tower Mountain to Lake Creek Summit due to snow conditions.  The wind has blown all the snow off the trail by Tower Mountain making it unaccessible with the cat.  The snow cat went down Strawberry River and made it just above the corrals before turning around, and coming back the way it came.  We are still unable to take the cat across Lew's cut-off, and we will not be able to do the entire CO-OP Strawberry loop until it snows more.

Please remember to check snow and avalanche conditions before heading off into the back country.  Wear your avalanche beacons and prepare for the worst.

We groomed CO-OP and down Strawberry River to the corrals and returned the same way.  The lack of snow will keep us from making this loop on a regular basis.  We are unable at this time to get the snowcat safely over to Clyde Creek and Mudd Creek.  We have not made it into the Indian Creek, Sheep Creek, Trail Hollow area this year.  There is three feet of snow at the top of Strawberry towards Tower Mountain but it is "sugar" snow with little base to it.  The snow cat had troubles getting out of the Strawberry River trail last night because of the snow conditions.   We will try and run the groomer where we can but it will be hard to establish a schedule without additional snow.  The picture below was taken two weeks ago.  There is actually less snow now at the trail head elevations.  Daniels Summit Lodge and Strawberry Marina are still running snowmobiles out of their complexes.
