Grooming report 2/29/2012

Our snow cat broke down and is out of commission for the remainder of the season. We are borrowing a cat on March 1st and will have it for four days. During that time frame we will groom everything that we can to make sure it is good for the following week. If needs be, we will then get the cat back on the 12th if we have enough snow to groom down low that is. We have received a couple good storms the last few days and it continues to snow good right now with about 5 new inches as of this morning. We appologize for the inconvenience and we are doing all we can to get things up and running.

Grooming report 2/23/12

We just groomed the entire complex today. We opened up Tibble Fork and Silver Lake today and it went well. We received about 12" of new snow across the complex in any place above 8000'. The rest of the areas received anywhere from 2 inches on up. We were able to get through the narrows in AF canyon which was nice. This will allow for more grooming runs to Tibble Fork. The lower areas around the trailheads have snow, however they are pretty skimpy, other than Mill Flat in Snake Creek which is at a higher elevation. The warm weather and rain didn't help yesterday either. All in all, the trails are in great shape once you get up the trail.

Wasatch complex is up and grooming in those areas where we have the snow.  We started grooming on Sunday and opened up Snake Creek Canyon and went over to AF canyon to the narrows.  Last night, the cat went across the top of Cummings Parkway towards Cascade Springs.  We didn't do to the springs because there isn't enough snow down there.  We won't groom the alpine loop area or Tibble Fork until we have enough snow to do it.  We received about three feet of snow up top from these last storms.

As of 5pm tonight we have received about 14" of new snow at the Mill Flat Trailhead in Snake Creek Canyon.  Reports from riders say they were in about 3 feet of snow up top.  The good thing is, it is still coming down.  Our plans are to have the snowcat out tomorrow morning to start grooming the trails.  We will start with Snake Creek and American Fork canyon to the narrows and possibly across Cummings Parkway depending on the depth over there.  We'll continue to evaluate snow depths in other areas and open them up as snow permits.

The Wasatch Mtn complex is still not grooming yet.  We did receive about 7 inches of new snow at the Mill Flat trailhead in Snake Creek Canyon last night.  The cascade trailhead only received about 2 inches and the Pine Creek trailhead about 4 inches.  We will evaluate the snow totals throughout the week to determine grooming runs.  Visit back often for updates.

Wasatch Mountain currently is not grooming.

We have no snow at the trail heads.

We have reports from individual riders that high elevations have good riding snow.

Be careful of hazards and potential for avalanche danger.

Currently access from Wasatch Mountain requires riding over bare dirt ground:(

There is no access to Pine Canyon or Brighton Estates cabin area due to the bare road.

Grooming Report for 12/2/2011

Ah, the first snow report of the season only means that great riding is just around the corner. We have had some die hards up riding already in the Wasatch Mtn area. There is snow out of the Mill Flat trailhead, but that is all. When you get up the road about a mile, there is about 10 inches. All south facing slopes are almost all bare. We have marked trails and are just waiting for the snow to fall. Once we have enough snow, we'll be out and grooming.
